Matt Ryder releases “Riverbed” ft Birdy

Like two tectonic plates, patiently waiting below the surface to collide, Matt Ryder and Birdy unite to unearth the stirring vulnerability and emotive nature of electronic music in their single ‘Riverbed’, out this Aug 5th.

Ryder, who at just 19 years old, is already leading the new wave of electronic music with his soul-baring approach. Carving space for vulnerability to sit concurrently with his production,  he is fast becoming recognised as a testament to the personal side of electronic music.

Meanwhile, platinum selling artist, Birdy, in due symmetry has built her career on impassioned releases with her ethereal vocals lending to Brit nominations, Grammy nominations and global recognition. The confluence of the pair on ‘Riverbed’ feels as naturally formed as the title itself.

Taking shape around Ryder’s emotion-charged beat, the kinetic energy between the two soon becomes apparent as Birdy’s haunting vocals lace the track, delicately intertwined with Matt’s own. Bringing to life this synergy, George O’Reilly’s directed music video, sees the  pair enveloped in nature, embracing it in all its forms – from the smallest of raindrops to the most powerful strikes of thunder, in a somewhat metaphorical reflection of the track’s ability  to offer tender vulnerability, meanwhile, build to a cavernous climax.

Speaking on the track, Matt explains; “This song means so much to me – it really finally talks about so many different things that have happened in my life recently. Me and Birdy had an  amazing time writing this song and I think it really shows. It’s a reflection on my recent life and  was probably the most challenging to write and to produce – simply down to how much we put  into the song.”
