Today multifaceted group of creatives NOT A TOY, drop their debut album “PRBLMS”. Bringing bold flavors of hip-hop and R&B to the table, the body of work showcases the chameleonic artistry of NOT A TOY.
The Denver-based collective is made up of four members, lead vocalist Branson Hoog, Jeremy Marmor on guitar, drummer Benji Spoliansky, and TJ Wessel on violin and keys. Together they have created 12 stellar tracks encompassing a varied range of genre-defying sounds, all with a striking uniqueness and vibrancy. All four members illustrate their own individual flair on the album, making it a project which celebrates each and every process and step that went into the creation of “PRBLMS”.
Speaking on the album, the band state:
We have been making music as a group for 10 years while growing up together, then when we finally signed a record deal and recorded our first EP, in our heads we are about to quit our jobs and start touring the world. Then the pandemic hit right as we released the EP, so everything got put on pause.
We wrote PRBLMS in that head space. Without trying to, all the songs made light of negative energy. We wrote “Grown Folk Problems” which encompassed the whole record… it’s about wanting to enjoy your youth and experience everything, but you have to wake up for work in the morning. We are all just kids trying to figure it out but we have grown folk problems weighing us down. It’s a real coming of age story. We’re so proud to present to you, PRBLMS.
