Simon Porte Jacquemus has unveiled his brand’s first flagship store in London. Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, the London flagship is situated in a converted art gallery on New Bond Street, spanning 332 square meters across four floors.
The store’s interiors testify to Jacquemus’ penchant for blending fashion with art and culture. Crafted by the design studio OMA, the different floors are devoted to different branches of the brand: one floor is for menswear, another for womenswear, and the topmost floor serves as a private VIP salon.
A nod to the brand’s origins in Provence, France, can be felt throughout the boutique’s aesthetic. In keeping with the tradition of celebrating art and craftsmanship, the London store showcases nearly 50 artworks, and unique pieces such as a pair of Josef Hoffmann armchairs, Henry Laurens’ evocative drawing of two mermaids, a small nude by Raoul Dufy, and ceramic art from the Parisian house Astier de Villatte.
This new retail space marks another milestone for the French designer following the recent opening of a boutique in New York, at 143 Spring Street. Following this opening, the designer has confirmed that he is open to getting a minority shareholder to aid in further expansion efforts, “I value my independence, I want to pass the company on to my children, but I have to break the glass ceiling by finding the right partner who will remain a minority shareholder,” said Jacquemus to Le Figaro.
The Luxury brand, Jacquemus was founded in 2009 and since then has emerged as one of the most celebrated brands in contemporary fashion. Known for its playful yet minimalist approach, Jacquemus gained international acclaim through its distinctive designs, bold colours, playful campaigns, and close relationships with A-list stars including the Hadid sisters, Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa, and more. Some of the brand’s iconic pieces include Le Chiquito bags, which have become some of the most coveted items in luxury in recent years.
