The French fashion brands everyone needs to know about

The world is fully aware of French brands and the influence they have had on various aspects of the fashion industry over the years. From a variety of stylish tricks to huge brands like Dior and Saint Laurent bringing out a selection of must-have designs, France is a country that well and truly endorses all things fashion.

In recent times, a number of popular French fashion brands have made further strides by winning over more and more people to their line of clothing. Some brands are well established already, but there are some intriguing labels gaining some real momentum too. Most people trust French brands when it comes to style and sophistication also. The country alone is a symbol of quality and has a reputation for doing certain things extremely well, such as its stunningly delicious cuisine and a touch of class with Premium French Roulette. France also has an array of sports stars, gorgeous landmarks, and then some truly memorable fashion brands. In fact, French fashion – particularly in the country’s capital of Paris – is held in extremely high regard.

Some brands are aiming to join the likes of Dior, Saint Laurent and Chanel with a solid selection of designs and an all-around offering that is not only more affordable to most people but offers originality and a fresh look with some interesting pieces.

A good place to start

First up is Jacquemus and its selection of surreal clothes and truly unique designs. Beginning to gain further traction outside of the country, this French brand is seemingly on a path to global glory with its range of bags, shoes, knitwear and a whole lot more. Jacquemus’ dresses have gained quite a fanbase in recent times, too.

It’s not uncommon to see social media influencers bring out a merchandise offering with a range of pieces too, perhaps jumpers and t-shirts, but not many have done it as well as Anne-Laure Mais and her exciting brand, Musier Paris. Musier Paris focuses on everything Parisians are wearing this summer with a selection of truly French designs suitable for any occasion.

Atelier de Production et Création has been around since the 1980s when it was first launched during a time widely regarded as being focussed on great maximalism. A favourite with minimalists in particular, A.P.C. is a go-to option for bag lovers at the moment especially, with the French brand serving up a range of classic beauties which would appeal to the fashionistas of today.

Another familiar brand but with a much bigger reputation than the aforementioned Atelier de Production et Création is Givenchy and its new-look after being handed over to the highly reputable and hugely talented American designer, Matthew M Williams, who took over the reins from Clare Waight Keller. So far, Williams has added a range of eye-catching designs over the past few seasons, particularly its iconic Antigona bag, which was given a makeover.

Claudie Pierlot is a rising name in the French contemporary style game with an appealing take on blouses, patent miniskirts, and swings coats especially. Faith Connexion is another brand gathering real momentum in recent times, with fashion editor and former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Emmanuelle Alt, endorsing its comprehensive selection of styles too. Balmain is a name that has won over famous faces within the fashion field also, with the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian West seen in the brand’s blazers and high heels at times.

Other brands worth paying close attention to are Jérôme Dreyfuss, Isabel Marant, The Kooples, La Redoute, Lemaire, Maison Michel, and Maje.
