Alt-pop artist Bessie Turner has shared the visuals for her new single ‘Down 2’.
‘Down 2’ has already seen support from BBC6 Music, Sunday Mirror and CLASH, and follows Bessie’s festival performances at MIRRORS, Iceland Airwaves, Dot to Dot, Live At Leeds, Camp Bestival and Leopallooza, and a hand selected slot supporting Ed Sheeran at Chantry Park this summer.
Featuring stunning landscapes filmed in her native Suffolk, the video for ‘Down 2’ is chillingly beautiful and Bessie’s most expressive work to date.
About her new video Bessie says: “It was a really organic and easy process driven by friendship and sweet female energy. I want people to take from it whatever they want, it means so many different things to me. It’s about identity, companionship, feminism, togetherness.”
12 months ago Bessie Turner was riding the crest of a wave after headlining BBC Introducing stages at Latitude and Reading & Leeds festivals, and garnering over a million streams with singles ‘Nino’ and ‘Words You Say’. Then in early 2019 she was rushed into hospital with sepsis and nearly died.
A return to health and to music, dreamily melancholic, ‘Down 2’ reamplifies Bessie’s dynamic song-writing prowess. Her new single is a refreshingly relatable indie pop ode to the messy realities of unrequited love – equal parts joyous and heart-breaking, straight from the heart.
Tickets for Bessie’s headline show at Folklore, London on Wednesday 4th December are on sale now.
