Liv Dawson Unveils New Single ‘Does It Even’ from Forthcoming EP ‘Turn The Page’

Liv Dawson, a prodigious talent in the music industry with over 50 million career streams, has released her new single ‘Does It Even,’ the first taste from her forthcoming EP ‘Turn The Page,’ set to drop on September 13th.

The track, a shimmering garage bop, highlights Liv’s crystal-clear, emotionally resonant vocals, capturing both soaring highs and soft, sweet moments. It explores the confusion and introspection following a breakup, questioning the authenticity of the relationship. Liv elaborates, “‘Does It Even’ was written from the perspective of being confused by someone’s feelings when leaving a relationship, and questioning whether it was real or not. Being a sensitive, ‘feel it all girl’ myself I hope others can relate and know that if you’re ever too much for someone – tell them to go find less.”

The ‘Turn The Page’ EP promises a blend of bumpy garage and UK bass-licked 4×4, with its five tracks combining pitched-up vocal lines with piano splashes and thumping basslines. This new collection reflects both a nod to the genre’s nostalgic moments and a step towards its future. The introspective lyrics address themes of heartbreak and vulnerability, echoing the raw emotionality found in the works of SZA and Summer Walker. This EP marks a new creative chapter for Liv, produced in collaboration with Frank Colucci, known for his work with Ashnikko and Rose Gray.

Liv expresses her hopes for the EP, stating, “Turn The Page EP is a collection of songs inspired from life moments, they are a mix of heartbreak, vulnerability as well as the best of times. I hope it gives people a chance to dance their way through all the emotions.”

Born just outside of London, Liv Dawson began her musical journey at a young age, influenced by her parents’ soundtrack of Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill, and particularly inspired by Beyoncé’s performance in ‘Dreamgirls.’ At 17, she signed with Elton John’s Rocket Management and quickly made a name for herself, collaborating with Disclosure, Jimmy Napes, and Olly Alexander, and supporting global superstar Khalid.

Despite her early successes, the pressures of the industry impacted her mental health. The pandemic further instigated fears about her love for performing. However, a significant outdoor show with Tom Grennan reignited her passion. Liv is set to reunite with Tom Grennan on August 10th at his 25,000-capacity Gunnersbury Park show, where she will be a special guest alongside Caity Baser and Mae Stephens.
