Honeybadger is ready to make a significant impact on the music scene with their explosive new single, “Maybe I.” Hailing from Brighton, this dynamic trio, known for their “high energy garage punk” sound, is breaking barriers and leaving audiences clamouring for more with their unique fusion of punk, indie rock, and psychedelia.
Their latest track, “Maybe I,” captures the essence of someone perpetually in over their head but never short of bravado. It’s a raw, unfiltered exploration of overconfidence born from inexperience, a fearless dive into the tumult of unchecked ambition. With their rapid rise showing no signs of slowing, Honeybadger is a band you won’t want to overlook. Their growing acclaim, bolstered by endorsements from industry heavyweights, signals that they are poised to make a substantial mark.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the single, the band shared, “‘Maybe I’ is a personal favourite. We save it for last in our live sets because we pour every ounce of our remaining energy and frustration into it. The crowd always responds with equal intensity—it’s the track that really gets them jumping! The song’s theme centers around an encounter with someone we all recognize—someone whose incompetence is masked by overconfidence. We’ve all experienced such people, so we channelled those frustrating encounters into the raw energy that drives both our live performances and studio recordings.”
The band consists of brothers Eddy (guitar, vocals) and Joe (drums), along with their longtime friend Luca (bass). Honeybadger draws inspiration from legendary bands like Drenge, Them Crooked Vultures, Pretty Vicious, and The White Stripes. Their sound is characterized by gritty guitars, powerful riffs, and raw vocals, all propelled by driving drums and captivating basslines.
Honeybadger has captivated audiences with their electrifying live shows, including a recent headlining performance at The Alternative Escape Festival 2024. They’ve also made their mark on BBC Introducing and BBC Live Lounge. Their single “Spell It Out” hit the top 15 on the Kerrang! Chart, and their latest release “Gone Cold” reached #19, with both tracks earning spots on Apple Music’s editorial playlists. Esteemed figures like Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 and CLASH Magazine have lauded the band, with CLASH noting, “Melding together punk, indie rock, and psychedelic elements, they’ve become a must-see live act, performing across the country.”
