Los Angeles R&B duo Emotional Oranges reveal their latest single ‘Nowhere’ with collaborator Nonso Amadi, out today via Avant Garden ( Public Records in Canada), distributed via Colture. Alongside today’s release, Emotional Oranges also announce their EU/UK tour with Nonso Amadi, with tickets out on pre-sale on Thursday the 15th, and on-sale on the 17th.
Together, Emotional Oranges and Nonso Amadi will be releasing a collab EP titled ‘Blended’, and today’s single ‘Nowhere’ is the first offering to come from the upcoming project. The record’s smooth, atmospheric sound gives fans of both acts a satisfying taste of what is to come from this genius partnership.
Emotional Oranges speak on the story behind their new single, expressing that: “Nowhere” is the 2nd track we made with Nonso. Him and Majid (from Majid Jordan) had started the song idea and it was something I immediately connected to. The message felt incredibly time sensitive, both in my personal life and with everything happening in the world. This idea that no matter what’s going on, you’re always going to be there for your person/people. And sonically it represents a new chapter in the EO sound as it’s (one of) the first tracks we’ve made that isn’t centered around the groove of the bass. That open, airy feel made this the perfect song to lead off our collab EP “Blended” and take us into the ice cold Los Angeles Winter.”
Today’s single comes off the back of Emotional Oranges project ‘STILL EMO’ released last August, which garnered support from tastemakers, Clash Magazine and The Line of Best Fit, who pronounced the album as a project “launching a new wave of emo, characterised not by riffs and impassioned whining, but by silky, nostalgic vocals and soft production.”
On their 2024 UK/EU tour, Emotional Oranges and Nonso Amadi will hit the likes of Here at Outernet in London, Academy 2 in Manchester and Saalchen in Berlin throughout the month of March.
