David Hockney, the British icon within the realm of art has been brought to life at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris. This Spring the new exhibition will be opening holding a creative space containing more than over 400 pieces of his work. Head curator, Suzanne Pagé also known for her joint book Monet / Mitchell: Painting the French Landscape, has fabricated a world for the respected artist and his life for guests to visit and relish in his craft.
The immersive experience covers all areas of his works which span seven decades of his career demonstrating nature and landscape paintings, his recent works (200-2025), the Normandy series and artistic dialogues. Hockney’s personal life and passions also shine through the exhibition space as the area has been curated into a dance hall, echoing his adoration for dance and music.
As well as taking time to reflect upon his early works and the pieces that made his artistic career sky-rocket, the exhibition does have a large section that focuses on his latest artistic designs. Think (2023) and After Blake: Less is Known than People Think (2024) are both a few of these works to name a few. These specific pieces of art illustrate his experimentation on spiritual investigation and the transit of time, unique topics that make him stand out as a creator.

Hockney is known for his use of bold, vibrant colour within his paintings evoking emotion and specific atmosphere’s with these gaudy colour palettes. This gives the exhibition a spirited, vigorous ambience leaving visitors feeling upbeat and fulfilled. His fabrications were created mostly by acrylic or even using an iPad, which makes him a modern artist, as well as still owning that sixties spirit. When it comes to modern technology, Hockney is a wizard using these tools to his benefit, which this display appreciates. Over his career as an artist he has dabbled with interactive digital installations, laser technology and digital projection.
This exhibition is open from the 9th April – 31st of August with ticket prices ranging from 0-32 euros. The space will take you through a highly-anticipated, wonderful life line of the artist’s career. The juxtaposition from his early paintings to his digital discoveries will leave visitors inspired and giddy.
