Berlin Berlin Showcases Helmut Newton’s Best Work

Helmut Newton, one of the most impactful fashion photographers in the industry, was a legendary icon who left a lasting mark on how we view art today. Known for his provocative, bold photography, his work has been featured in some of the most prestigious magazines worldwide. This January, we will be treated to another significant book showcasing his works and legacy. Berlin, Berlin will highlight Newton’s iconic Berlin images and celebrate 20 years of the Helmut Newton Foundation.

Newton, who learned and trained under the famous photographer Yva, discovered his passion for fashion photography and visual storytelling. After gaining recognition in the 1960s, Newton was able to showcase his work in esteemed publications and in his own magazine, Helmut Newton’s Illustrated.

Published by Taschen, the book will feature nude, fashion, and cultural images, offering a unique view of Berlin through his eyes. It will include previously unseen shots from the 1930s to the 2000s, with iconic figures such as Hanna Schygulla, Wim Wenders, John Malkovich, and David Bowie. The book will also showcase images of Berlin’s vibrant scene, from restaurants and clubs to the Berlin Film community.

The Helmut Newton Foundation, which has been open since June 2004, preserves and displays much of his work. Marking 20 years of his astonishing legacy, this new publication honors his work and closes a chapter after his passing in 2004.

Set to release in January 2025, you can pre-order the book now on Amazon or at your bookstore of choice!
