Fresh on the back of being announced as one of Vevo’s 2020 Artists To Watch, AWA releases the video for her new single ‘Like I Do.’
Swedish breakout artist AWA continues her tale of resilience, determination and raw talent. After her debut single for Columbia ‘F**kin’ Love Songs’ was premiered by Julie Adengua on BEATS 1, with the accompanying video premiered on COMPLEX; more recently she dropped the track ‘Comfortable’ which has been tipped by Nylon and Spindle, as well as receiving love from Radio 1, 1Xtra and BEATS 1 and Kiss Fresh
On her new single ‘Like I Do’, AWA sings about the importance of the love in yourself. When others try to ‘dim your lights’ questioning why your ‘doing fine’ she empowers the listener to ask and believe in that love lies within you. Her confident vocals are underpinned by a stripped-back R&B production by Aston Rudy (Mahalia) and Tre Jean Marie (Mabel).. It’s heavy on the low end with its locked in bass groove
AWA says…”I wrote ‘Like I Do’ to remind myself that the love for myself is always the most important and that you got you until the end of time. Not trying to get validation from others, because I’ve realized it’s simply just a waste of time and can get you into a rut of self-doubt and spiral into negative thinking. Validation is simply for parking lol. I’m still on my journey of self-love and feeling fully secure in myself, so whenever I need to remind myself that I’m “THAT B**TCH” I listen to this song”
‘F**Kin’ Love Songs’, ‘Comfortable’ and ‘Like I Do’ are taken from AWA’s debut EP due for release early 2020 on Columbia.
