Albin Lee Meldau Unveils New Album ‘Discomforts’ and Announces Arena Tour

Albin Lee Meldau, a singer-songwriter celebrated for his soulful, powerful voice, has released Discomforts, his first English-language album in over six years. Meldau, who has become a household name in the Nordic countries, is now captivating UK audiences with his deeply personal and introspective music. Known for blending genres such as soul, reggae, blues, and alternative rock, the new album showcases his unmistakable voice and vulnerable storytelling.

Discomforts reflects the tumultuous journey Meldau has experienced in recent years. The album is a raw and honest exploration of his past struggles with addiction and the lessons learned through recovery. Meldau describes the album as “a marriage of all his influences,” drawing on a wide range of sounds and styles to create a complex yet cohesive record. His collaborations with Grammy-winning producer Eg White (Adele, Florence + The Machine) add a polished yet emotional depth to the project.

The album’s focus track, “If You Ever Change Your Mind,” serves as the emotional core, offering a haunting reflection on loss and survival. Meldau’s gripping vocal performance conveys the pain and darkness of his experiences. “It’s a bloody dark song about a friend, a lot of friends,” says Meldau. “Most of us didn’t make it.”

Other notable tracks include “Josephine,” a reimagined version of his hit featuring American singer-songwriter Lissie, and “Hold Your Head Up,” a stirring collaboration with British artist Jack Savoretti. New tracks like “Girlfriend” and “Mainly Disappointed” blend laid-back soul and ska-tinged rhythms, while “User Lost” delves into the realization of needing to change one’s life trajectory.

As Meldau embarks on this new chapter, Discomforts represents both a creative rebirth and a personal triumph. After overcoming significant challenges, the album captures his journey from rock bottom to redemption, reminding listeners of the strength it takes to confront one’s demons.

In support of the album, Meldau is set to perform in Germany, Denmark, and Norway, followed by seven arena shows across Sweden, kicking off in November. These performances are sure to showcase his electrifying stage presence and unique ability to connect with audiences. Tickets for the tour are available now.
